About Johnathon Martin

Helping People Pause, Reconnect & Remember Who They Are

I'm Johnathon Martin, a speaker, presenter, workshop and retreat facilitator, and self-awareness practitioner based in London.

My work today has grown from more than three decades of exploring yoga, meditation, mindfulness, self-awareness and personal development, combined with a professional background in sales, communication, presenting, mentoring and working with people.

I've spent much of my life interested in a simple question:

What does it really mean to be human - and how can we live more consciously, authentically and fully?

That question continues to shape the work I do today.

A Journey of Exploration

My interest in self-awareness and personal development didn't begin with a qualification or a particular career decision.

It has developed gradually through experience, exploration, work, travel, relationships, parenthood, successes, challenges, mistakes and simply paying attention to life.

Over the years I've travelled extensively internationally, spending time in places including India, Thailand and Costa Rica, among others.

Travel has played an important part in my development.

Being exposed to different cultures, philosophies, ways of living and ways of seeing the world has continually challenged me to question what I take for granted - and to look beyond the assumptions and conditioning that can shape how we live.

Yoga and meditation have also been important influences for more than 30 years, providing a practical way of exploring awareness, breath, body, thoughts, feelings and presence.

But my learning hasn't only happened through sitting quietly or studying philosophy.

Life itself has been the classroom.

From Sales & Communication to Self-Awareness

Professionally, much of my earlier career was spent in sales, communication and presenting.

Working with people in sales taught me a great deal about communication, confidence, listening, influence, motivation and - perhaps most importantly - human behaviour.

It also taught me that people don't always make decisions based purely on logic.

Behind what we say and do are often our emotions, beliefs, fears, desires, experiences and expectations.

That understanding gradually became increasingly connected to my interest in self-awareness and personal development.

Today I bring together both sides of my experience:

The ability to communicate, present and engage an audience - and a deep interest in helping people understand themselves.

Creating & Delivering My Own Programmes

Over the years I've designed and delivered a number of my own courses and experiences.

These have included:

Travelling Yogi

Exploring yoga, travel, culture and personal experience - and the relationship between how we move through the world and how we experience ourselves.

Mat Matters

Using the yoga mat as a starting point for exploring awareness, movement, breath, presence and what happens both on and beyond the mat.

Happier London

Exploring practical approaches to wellbeing, happiness, connection and living more consciously in a busy city.

Lifestyle Redesign

Looking at the different elements of life and asking whether the way we're currently living genuinely reflects who we are and what matters to us.

Each of these projects explored different ideas, but together they helped me discover the direction in which my work was naturally moving.

Towards self-awareness, personal development and helping people reconnect with themselves.

Working With People & Organisations

I've also had the opportunity to present workshops and programmes for organisations including The Promise Foundation and Action for Happiness, working with people around areas such as personal development, wellbeing, life skills and self-awareness.

I've worked with both adults and young people, and have developed and delivered programmes designed to encourage reflection, confidence, awareness and practical life skills.

These experiences have reinforced something I have come to believe strongly:

People don't always need more information.

Sometimes they need the opportunity to stop, reflect and discover something for themselves.

Being a Father

I'm also a father of two children.

Being a parent has inevitably changed the way I see life, responsibility, relationships and the importance of being present.

It has also reminded me that we don't simply influence and guide through what we say.

We do it through how we live.

Like everyone, I haven't always got it right.

But being a parent has made me increasingly interested in what we pass on to the next generation - not just knowledge and skills, but ways of seeing ourselves, other people and the world.

Where I Am Today

All of these experiences - yoga, meditation, travel, sales, communication, presenting, course creation, mentoring, relationships, parenthood, successes, failures and the ongoing exploration of life - have gradually brought me to the work I'm doing today.

I now work across several connected areas:

Speaking & Presenting
Sharing ideas and perspectives with audiences.

Workshops & Facilitation
Creating practical, engaging experiences rather than simply delivering information.

Retreats & Events
Helping people pause, reconnect and explore themselves in a different environment.

Content & Programme Delivery
Helping experts, organisations and programme creators bring their existing knowledge and material to life.

Co-Cretion
Working with others to develop bespoke workshops, programmes and experiences.

Personal Realignment & Reset
Working one-to-one with individuals who feel stuck, confused or uncertain about their next step.

At the heart of all of this is an idea that has become increasingly important to me:

We don't always need to become somebody else.

Sometimes we need to remember who we already are.

Life can become noisy.

Other people's opinions.

Expectations.

Responsibilities.

Social conditioning.

Fear.

Habit.

The constant pressure to achieve, perform, please and prove.

All of these can gradually take us away from ourselves.

My work is about creating spaces where people can pause, become aware, reconnect and respond differently.

That might happen through a talk.

A workshop.

A retreat.

A conversation.

Or simply an hour spent looking honestly at where you are and where you want to go.

My Approach

I'm not interested in pretending to have all the answers.

And I'm not here to tell people how they should live their lives.

Instead, I try to create an environment where people can look, listen, question and discover something for themselves.

I bring together my experience of presenting, communication, yoga, meditation, self-awareness, personal development, travel and simply being a human being navigating life.

My approach is practical, curious and accessible.

And while I take the work seriously, I don't believe personal development needs to be complicated, overly serious or full of jargon.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply:

Pause.

Breathe.

Become aware.

Remember.

And choose how we respond.

Based in London. Open to the World.

I live in London and work with people and organisations in person and online.

I'm happy to travel for speaking engagements, workshops, retreats and events, and I'm open to working internationally where the right opportunity arises.

After many years of travelling and exploring different cultures and ways of living, I have no particular desire to limit this work to one city or one country.

Wherever there are people with something to explore, something to share or something to remember, there may be an opportunity to work together.

What I'm Doing Now

Today, my work brings together everything that has come before it.

My experience.
My curiosity.
My communication skills.
My love of learning.
My interest in people.
My experience of yoga and meditation.
My years of travel.
My experience as a father.
My successes and failures.
And my continuing exploration of what it means to live consciously and authentically.

I don't see this as the end of a journey.

I see it as the next chapter.

And perhaps the most useful thing I've learned along the way is this:

Before deciding where you are going, it can help to remember who you are.
